3:00 P.M.
For our March show, Church of Beethoven is excited to bring another international musical duo - ORiHANA . Our performance will be Sunday February 20th at 3:00 in the acoustically perfect Good Shepherd Church in Oak Park
ORiHANA is a Chicago based J-POP / Anime cover duo founded by award-winning
musicians, Moldovan violinist Olya Prohorova and Japanese pianist Hana Fujisaki.
Enamored by heartfelt Japanese pop melodies from an early age, violinist Olya
Prohorova founded ORiHANA as a result of discovering Japanese pop music through
anime while living in Moldova, Eastern Europe. Her love for Japanese culture first
emerged into her project, Hanauta, which she created with her long-time friend, flutist
Erina Koyasu. Hanauta focused on bridging Eastern European and Japanese traditional
music, and ultimately incited the creation of ORiHANA - a modern j-pop project focusing
on beloved songs from anime tv series and movies, as well as popular songs by celebrated
Japanese musicians like Spitz, Mika Nakashima, Angela Aki, Suneohair, YUI, Kenshi Yonezu
and others. ORiHANA brings a fresh take to well-known songs, rearranging them for violin
and piano / keys while implementing Olyas classical and Hanas jazz education. Their
work can be seen on the ORiHANA YouTube Channel and Instagram.
